After the mergers, the reform of China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom have all fixed networks, mobile phone licenses, the classification of all service operations, which marks the emergence of new competitors in the industry Chinese telecoms.
There are three reasons for Mergers: first, strengthening the competitiveness of operators, on the other hand, modify the structure of competition disparate, third, creating opportunities for reform of the service for operators.
The newly built China Unicom has awarded the 3G license, the most widespread and well-rounded in the world. Because of its industry chain mature and low cost equipment, the new building of China Unicom has advantages in the competition of 3G services.
Meanwhile, the service is the standard WCDMA 3G technologies in the world, the fastest growth in users. It had clear advantages over the competition CDMA2000 services, in particular the reform later to 4G. Currently, the WCDMA standard is more mature, receiving support from various major manufacturers of telecommunications equipment. However, the operating capacity of China Unicom's market has lagged behind China Mobile. The prospects for development of WCDMA services in China need further investigation. Although Internet users of China Mobile have been very low, China Mobile has started building the network throughout the country because of its abundance of capital. It is expected that users will grow at a rapid rate.
The standard TD-SCDMA in China Mobile operated belonged to independent Chinese 3G standard, lagging behind WCDMA and CDMA2000. But outside the consideration of the services, the position of giant China Mobile could not weaken the Chinese mobile communications market. It is possible for China Mobile to get another license WCDMA recent years.
